History

Community Services Development of Nashville (CSDN) was established in November 2011 as a nonprofit corporation to “Evangelize and Rebuild Communities from the Inside Out” by providing Faith-Based programs, activities, initiatives, and partnerships that simultaneously address the educational, physical, social, and spiritual needs of at-risk urban youth and their families in a coordinated way.

The first two years of our existence was devoted to developing the infrastructure of the organization - policies and procedures, business and operations systems and procedures, and management information systems. During this time we were also reaching out to potential donors and partners. In September of 2013, CSDN start partnering with I.T. Creswell Arts Magnet Middle School to provide an In-School Mentoring Program for about 26 of their at-risk boys ages 10 to 14. (See Accomplishments)

CSDN’s Faith-Based programs, activities, and initiatives in the communities of Nashville, Tennessee focuses on the critical needs of at-risk youth and their families by providing an array of services that evolve around two initiatives: MENTORING: Boys-2-Men (B2M) After School & Summer Mentoring Programs (character building & life skills development); In-Schools Mentoring Program (tutoring, character building & life skills development); and COMMUNITY AND FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES INITIATIVE (Adult Education Programs & Initiatives; Recreation & Fellowship Programs & Initiatives; Family Empowerment & Life Skills/Restoration Programs & Initiatives; Employment/Job Seekers Classes & Networking Initiatives, plus Moral/Spiritual/Physical Health & Wellness, Housing, Food, & Clothing Initiatives).

We extended our Mentoring Program to two other middle schools in 2015 and begin our Family Support Services Initiative in September of 2016.
